Six of us tidied up Kennedy Way Pond, our smallest nature reserve, on 30 October. The pond, which is on the corner between Kennedy Way and Link Road, is owned by Yate Shopping Centre. It's a breeding ground for newts and has a range of wildflower and water plant species.
The Shopping Centre staff had cut the grass round the pond, and we raked the cuttings off to impoverish the grasses and encourage the wildflower species. We also cut back the trees that back the pond to make sure that the light can get in.
